I have loved City Chic for many years. Before there were so many great plus sized shopping options online, it was pretty much your only choice. I can’t say I am overly keen on their prices, though their sales are always awesome. But they do often have some good stuff.
Jeans are basically the only kind of pants I wear. To work, after work, weekends…always jeans. I do like the fit of the City Chic jeans, despite the price, compared to my other jeans.
I have these 3 jeans pictured below (well the one of the right is very similar to the ones that I have that are now no longer for sale) but you get the idea.
But I have a small gripe, my City Chic jeans are trying to turn me into a smurf.

So, I’m not sure if I am alone in this? Bored, nervous and especially when I am cold. I rub my hands on my legs. It’s not a lot, but obviously enough. Sometimes I might just rest one hand in between my knees or under a leg. This is something I have to try very hard to avoid when wearing my City Chic jeans.

This is what happens to my hands!
Excuse the terrible pic (ever tried taking a phone pic with no hands!) The one on the left is colour my hands go when wearing the darker pairs. The right is the regular pink colour, to prove I am not in fact an actual smurf. It happens with every pair to some extent.
I’ve had issues with denim that has that terrible chemical smell. I will smell every pair of jeans before I buy them, yes..I am fun to shop with. Deciding on purchases by smell. But I thought these would be OK, as they don’t have any smell.
They have been washed many many times, and still they do it. What am I doing wrong? My cheapy ones from Target never do this.

Maybe it is the terrible smelling chemical stuff that makes other jeans retain their colour a bit more? I don’t know, haven’t noticed myself before (the chemical smell that is).
Yet to buy a pair from City Chic though – the price was a fairly big turn off so I figured I would go back when they had a sale.
Have you emailed City Chic to see what they say?
Yes, I only every buy them when they are on sale.
I have asked them on Twitter once, and they said return them. But if it is every pair, that isn’t really going to help. They should be just making them so they don’t do it…I would have thought?
Mine did this too, but after a few washes I didn’t notice it anymore. My City Chic jeans are the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever owned. Will be interesting to see if there’s an explanation.
I was in a store (can’t remember which one) and all the denims had stickers advising against sitting on white sofas whilst wearing them. I thought it was a joke, but I guess not?! It’s annoying that it still happens after you’ve washed them. Are they designed to fade or something? Maybe you can soak them in a colour fixer but not sure how effective that would be given you have already washed them several times.
Anyway, I’m still trying to picture you taking a hands-free photo …
Indeed! I want to know what pressed the trigger button. Or maybe I don’t!
These have no warnings on them, hadn’t thought of that. Would have to see what they would do to light coloured fabrics!
Maybe this link might help Leigh http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/FAQ/settingdye.shtml
It does mention though that garments which continue to bleed excessively should be returned. I would have thought that any bleeding would have stopped after the 3rd or 4th wash surely!
I got a couple of new capris yesterday from Katies. Chucked them in the standard cold 30min wash on the front loader and no smurfiness today thankfully!
I think I have found Katies to be stinky ones..so maybe your theory is right, the stink makes the colour stick LOL.
I’d say they have all been washed 10 times + The darkest ones, probably 20, and they can still do that. So definitely a flaw there!
I love my Katies Ultimate jeans but I hate the smell. I was told by a staff member they are sprayed before they are packaged so they do have to be ironed when they get here.
I would love to know ho to get the smell out. I have been to Katies recently and noticed the new range does not smell.
Just glad I didn’t let you touch my wedding dress with those hands
I’ve not had this happen, as I don’t wear jeans! But, we had trouble with work uniforms at the beginning, and we were told to soak them in salt water overnight, and it would help to set the colour. Seemed to work, as I haven’t had any trouble since.
A quick Google agrees that this should work!
I have had that issue with Katie’s jeans as well. The smell when you walk past the store sometimes is unbearable.
I have bought a few pairs and it takes SO many washes to get the smell out. It’s very off putting, as I don’t mind their jeans other than the smell.
I’ve not had it happen, but regardless it shouldn’t be happening at all, especially for the price you pay!!!
My hands look like that every time i wear my CC jeans too…. grrrrr!
