stupid..stupid..STUPID

Stupid x 100000 is an understatement, I cannot believe I am capable of such stupidity *face palm*

Went to Woolies Friday night to get supplies for our trip to Jamberoo (spent a small fortune as it was) I forgot to get cash out with my purchase, which is how I always get money out. Rarely do I use the ATM…will be using them even less now!

I don’t quite recall what happened. I remember doing the pin, checking the balance and then requesting the cash out. That’s it.

It wasn’t until a few hours later in Big W I went to pay for something with said cash I had gotten out…and it wasn’t in my wallet! After a quick search of my entire wallet, I knew what I had done.

I’d taken my keycard out and put it away, but had some how, unbelievably, left the cash in the ATM. Who the hell is that fucking stupid??!?!? I felt sick, $150 just left in the machine…what a nice surprise for the next user of the ATM.

I’ve never done ANYTHING like that before, I am usually so careful. I came home and bawled my eyes out. It still makes me sick just thinking about it.

PLEASE make me feel better and tell me I am not the only one to stupidly lose money?

No you’re not stupid…..I did it today at Bunnings, paid for a $30 purchase with $100 note, pocketed the receipt and left without collecting the change.
Maybe there is a touch of blonde within the silver on the top of my head.

I haven’t done that but I have lost money other ways..don’t be too hard on yourself.

  3. Laura says:

My old boss did the exact same thing years ago… but with $400 left in the ATM.
I always like to use her as an example when I leave money lying around… when it’s less than $400 anyway ;)

I personally haven’t done it, yet, but I have chased after a very harried looking young Mum who’d left a fair chunk of change in the ATM about 2 years ago.

Make sure you contact the bank first thing tomorrow- someone may have handed it in, or else it will be on their CCTV footage.

I got an envelope a few weeks back with $60 in it as my 3rd place winnings for the footy tipping comp and do you think I can find it now? I suspect I threw it out. I really could use it this week too…

ROFLMAO. I have left my card in the ATM before in SA, but never the cash. What a noob. :)

  9. Mistress B says:

I can’t say as I’ve misplaced that much myself, but I’ve seen my dad do it. Right as we were getting ready to leave for the local show and I’m pretty sure it was $200 that he ah, misplaced.

I remember a few years ago going to an ATM to get a fair chunk of change out. I got the cash but then was wondering where my card went. It was after hours so I figured that it would be stuck in the machine. Called the number on the machine who told me the bank could retrieve it for me in the morning.

Headed back the next day only to find the card wasn’t in the machine. The girl asked me three times if I was sure I hadn’t got it back out of the machine and I was most adamant that I hadn’t. I even pulled out my wallet to show her.

That’s when it dawned on me that I have two cards for the same bank – one a visa with savings linked and the other a visa debit card. The visa debit one was sitting in my wallet, where it has been all along. The visa card itself was still sitting in a glass of water frozen in the freezer where it had been for at least a month. No idea why I was so sure it was that card I had used. LOL

So there you go, plenty of stupid out there – unfortunately it’s contagious. ;)
